Construction of my basic rifle case includes the following:
- Elk, Buffalo, Deer or Cow hide
- Double throat flaps to protect the butt stock
- Hand cut circular hide thong plate, cemented and stitched on the outer flap, for reinforcement, where the tie-thong is located
- Hand cut flap tie-thong is installed, made from the same hide used for the rifle case, 50” length X ½” width
- Cowhide patch extending from over the hammer/receiver to the muzzle, cemented and machine stitched inside the case. The patch provides reinforcement and wear durability over the hammer/receiver and front sight and assists in the entry and removal of the rifle.
- Hand cut fringe is cemented and double stitched along the main seam, extending from the throat opening to the muzzle, except along the hand hold.
- Main seam is closed with cement and two (2) rows of machine stitching. Stitching is on the inside of the case and each row is hand back stitched at the throat and muzzle to protect against stitch unraveling. Rivets with burrs are installed inside the case at the throat opening and muzzle for greater strength in these areas.
- Hide muzzle loop is installed for hanging the case when stored. The muzzle loop is installed using two (2) rivets with burrs on the inside of the case, in addition to cement, double stitching and hand back stitching, providing reinforcement and durability at this point.
- Leather maker stamp, cemented and stitched to the outside of the case.
